I got this AGM NVG-50 about 3 weeks ago and I'm absolutely amazed with the performance and quality. I could see clearly in detail in nearly pitch black conditions with star lights or no moon at all on a few hundred yards away. I was able to see beavers swimming in a pond basically in pitch black conditions. I was skeptical on spending this much money on my first NOD. Even my friend who was recently discharged from the Army was on duty doing night missions was pretty impressed. The white phosphor is the way to go if the budget allows it. I like the feature on this unit that it can use cr123 or AA batteries. I have no regrets on this purchase.

I saw that OP had 1 available, so I jumped on it. Glad I did. At this price, I did a lot of research and comparisons before focusing on this set, and felt it was worth spending more for better. I received it within 2 weeks. This particular set over delivers, and is worth the extra expense. On the lowest gain, they are comfortably bright, and don’t even need help with illumination. Which makes your designator selection a little more flexible. Ie. Not needing a stand alone IR flashlight, etc. They’re just great. Compared them firsthand to others on deck, and these just take the cake hands down. Glad I spent the money. I paired them with a DBAL A3 des, and it’s overkill, lol. But again, quality. This designator is also top tier. I feel this pairing set up is thoroughly complete. I hope this review helps others considering taking the financial leap, know that it’s worth it. Next stop, Thermal. Thanks Optics Planet for making it easy.
