Made in Sweden. Not a ccp made optic. Very strong mount and body. Good in any lighting/sunlight.Could use more pronounced clicks in the wind/elevation turrets. However, as soon as I got it on and utilized it all the concerns were gone.Nothing sticking out no turrets no knobs. Smooth. Compact. Light. Fast. If you need one, wait, save your money. Buy once cry once.

Wow, extremely disappointed in this Aimpoint. Really too bad they didn’t make this model better. The T2, M5, and PRO are all great optics, but this RDS you can see the red ring inside the optic it’s very distracting even when using it properly and looking through it. Highly recommend just getting the Aimpoint pro for and dealing with the size. Would not recommend this.

Not sure if it’s just my Unit, but the Diode Reflex back onto the Optics viewing glass, making an annoying ring around the edge of the glass when you look into the sight. It’s not a knock, but the mount is also a Complete Cowitness (I’d prefer a 1/3) I was also a bit annoyed that the Battery Cap came slightly marred and became more so when I used a simple shell case to remove it. As the owner of a Comp M4, multiple Micro’s and a PRO… It pains me to say, This one just doesn’t stack up.

I think this has to be a bad run, the red ring inside is awful, very disappointing for the premium price

For years, the Aimpoint PRO was the go-to for professionals and enthusiasts who wanted a quality, reliable red dot sight at an affordable price, but it was bulky and heavy for what it was and the odd battery was somewhat difficult to source. The Aimpoint Duty RDS picks up where the PRO left off, trimming the weight and slimming down into a svelte, streamlined package. Where the PRO could be considered a less-expensive alternative to the COMP series, the Duty RDS seems to be the equivalent in a Micro pattern. The dot is crisp and the glass is clear with a slight blue tint that acts as a notch filter to increase the visibility of the dot without needing to crank up the brightness and drain the CR2032 battery. Some other reviews have complained about the color of the glass, but my sample wasn't really that noticeable. The brightness controls consist of a digital rocker button that's reasonably intuitive and easy to use with with my off hand, meaning I don't need to move my firing hand away from the rifle to make adjustments. However, the button is somewhat small and may be difficult to manipulate if you're particularly ham-fisted or wearing thick gloves. The mount is remarkably mediocre; just a simple block of aluminum with a Torx screw that tightens the clamp. For the intended use of this optic as a duty rifle sight, it's ideal because it reduces the cost and the likelihood that someone will tamper with the optic or remove it from the rifle. I'd have preferred to see a full-length crossbolt that secured with steel hardware instead of screwing into the aluminum mount, but this works out of the box and isn't likely to break unless Chongo the Torque Gorilla get his paws on it. You can replace it with any mount designed to fit the Aimpoint Micro footprint, but the Duty RDS has a taller base and will sit higher in any given mount than a Micro would. All in all, the Aimpoint Duty RDS is a solid choice for anyone seeking a dependable red dot sight that doesn't scream "MADE IN CHINA" but also doesn't cost an entire mortgage payment. It's simple and solid and will do red dot things for a very long time, as expected from Aimpoint.

Is there a ring when the brightness is up to a certain brightness? Yes. Is it the exact same as on a t2? Yes. For the rds, once you get the brightness up over half way and you're inside you will notice a red ring if the dot isn't positioned perfectly in the center of the window. It's the the same on a t2, but since the t2 has more brightness adjustments it happens at about setting 7 on the t2. If you're outside it's hardly noticable unless you're one that likes the brightness cranked to the max. The optic deserves 5 stars because you're getting aimpoint t2 reliability and durability for less than $500. I also like the push button adjustments. They could be a little more tactile for use with gloves, but it's not that big of a deal imo. The biggest pro (no pun intended) for this optic is the aimpoint durability and reliability for less than $500. That's a win, i don't care who you are.
