Excellent Thermal Scope ONCE you update the Firmware. I'm just getting to really understand the scope, but it's an excellent scope so far. Just took it out on a Cold Night (in the 30s) and its thermal image under those conditions was very good! In warm/hot temperatures & varying humidities the sight picture varied but was still good to very good. One really has to get into the unit's manual to understand all it's features, and to properly use the scope. I had to call ATN Customer Service to get some additional information on 1 to 2 new items on the various menus updated via the Firmware that weren't covered in the manual, for example a new menu item called "image booster" which helps somewhat reduce "boxy pixelation" as you increase the scope magnification towards its 24x range. I got the OPMOD version of the scope, and I liked the fact that a set of quick release scope rings came with the scope, and the price was a somewhat better than the ATN Black version of pretty well the same scope, minus the color difference. As I get more familiar with the scope & take it out in the field I'll likely update my review, but in any case, I do recommend this thermal as an excellent mid-grade/mid-cost thermal scope.

I've had it on my rifle about a week and killed 3 hogs already. Battery last a long time. I charged it when I took it out of the box and had it on for hours and it's still at 60%.

I updated the firmware and the reticle disappeared. Called ATN tech support and they said this can happen when the scope is older and the firmware jump is large, they noted based on the serial number this was an early production unit. It has gone back and I await its return. If all is well when it returns, I would says its worth it, as it was significantly less expensive with the only difference seeming to be that it is gray.
