I bought this for my husband. So far he has been very pleased with it. He has been using it for a few weeks now for birding and said the image is very clear and he likes the warranty of this product.I'm thinking of getting another binocular for my son, might get this one again.

My "go to" binoculars. Lightweight, clear, sharp, ergonomic, a true all-around optical instrument. I am an avid hunter and after looking at many binoculars I found that with other binoculars I was selecting a compromise of features, until I found these.

I read lots of reviews and it was a toss up between these and the Nikon 5. The price was better on these so I went for it. Now, that said, I already have a pair of 6 year old original nikon atb, so I thought these, (being newer technology and ed glass) would be an upgrade. I am sadly dissappointed. Based on comparing these against my old ATBs, I have to think the Nikon 5 would've been by far the better choice. These are no clearer and not as low light capable as my old non ed nikons, and they are fatter and heavier.I'm deciding whether to send them back or let my wife keep them for her "kitchen window" binos, and buy the Nikon 5 or 7 later. Any way, that's my two bits.

This is an update to my first impression review. I took these on a bow hunt on opening morning. At 7:05am on a clear morning, I began evaluating them. I noticed a sort of tunnel vision sensation and noticed that in the low morning light, I could see most everything that was within about 100yds and not shadowed. Again, they are heavier than the old Nikon ATBS and after using for a while, the very hard eye cups were uncomfortable almost painful when pressed against my face. The next morning I took my old Nikon ATB pair. At 7:05am aND light conditions exactally the same I could see into those shadowy areas clearly that I could not with the carsons. The brightness was considerably brighter with (again) a 6 year old pair of ATBs without ED glass, and there was much less of the tunnel vision sensation. I was also quite aware of the more comfortable feel of the nikons, and the comfort against my face was much better. I will be sticking with the Nikons and giving these carsons to my wife for the kitchen windows. These carsons may be fine for birders viewing during bright sunlit days as the image is slightly sharper in good light, but for hunters that need good low light performance, I would not recommend.

After much online research, I hesitated for a moment before buying these Carson binoculars – despite the fact that they made the top of my list. They (or at least the 10x model) were thoroughly reviewed and rated highly by several online publications/sites but I was hard pressed to find many customer reviews (I suspect because Carson is not one of the bigger name brands?). I'm so glad I took the chance and ordered them. The quality and performance of the product lives up to the rave reviews I read and for a great price.Special mention must be made of the high quality and ingenious accessories that come with, such as the wrap around case with magnetic (silent) closures ("binoarmor" I think they call it) that can be left on the binos while in use.For binoculars at this price point, I can't recommend this set more highly.Pros: Quality construction/design; excellent performance and accessoriesCons: None
