I am just getting into birding and have been an avid naturalist and hunter all my life (almost 60). Have had a couple pairs of cheap binoculars that spent more time in a closet than being used. One of those was an Nikon Action Fieldmaster 12X50 that were ok but heavy, bulky, and not waterproof.Decided I wanted to step up my game and get a better pair. After lots of research, I ordered both the Nikon Monarch 3 8X42 and this Celestron Nature DX 8X42. In my opinion, the Celestron was the better pair of binoculars, and approx. $100 less. Very comparable to the Nikons in every respect, but a much better value. Easy choice.

Ordered these binoculars after doing extensive research for a small to medium size binocular we could take with us when traveling. These are medium size, appear very well made, with a substantial feel in hand. Adjustments were easy to make and the view through the lenses clear and sharp. I was impressed with the overall quality and viewing capability. I would rate these as a good value for its price point.

I am new at birdwatching, but I can say that these Celestron binoculars are perfect for me. I purchased them based on reviews I had read; they were also highly recommended by expert bird-watcher organizations and I have not been disappointed – I have enjoyed close-up viewing and seeing details that I didn't know existed. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I spent a fair amount of time looking on the web for reviews of birding binoculars that aren't wildly priced. This kept getting better than average reviews for this price range. Wound up choosing these and getting them at OpticsPlanet because they had the best price. Haven't used them much but they feel very rugged and durable. And they come with the BAK4 prisms which is better than BAK7. And the real test – seeing things through them are crystal clear.

These are at least of the best binoculars for their price available for nature viewing. My brother has a pair and I searched the internet for a pair of birdwatching binocs for mself and could find none I liked better for the price. They won the 1st place award from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for their price class. They are functional and well-rounded. Decent FOV, eye-relife, weight, size, the focus knob turns easily, and the optics seem decent and get good reviews when compared to other optics. There is of course, loss of detail away from the sweet-spot, and chromatic aberration is noticeable at the point where snow touches dark, as you would expect with any binocular of this class. They come with plenty of accessories; a neck-strap, two double-capped lens guard pieces and a fabric case.Optics Planet has been a good company to work with.
