I finally had a chance to use this under fair/good skies. It gave an incredible view with an 8.8mm eyepiece which gave about 115x I only looked at Venus and Saturn. Phase of Venus could be seen and Saturn was great looking with rings visible and four pinpoint moons. Rings A and B had a clear division and I could see banding across the surface of the planet! so awesome. I put an Orion RACI 9×50, 2 inch diagonal, and a half pound eyepiece and it dampens down in about three seconds so mount is great even with about 14 pounds of total weight. Pros: Portability, Stability, Cons: None

Wanted to supplement my goto Mead Reflector, w/Equtorial; Refractor while stayin' under $500. Didn't Did a lot of "Window Shopping,"and I picked this one. Images are small but one has to remember;..THIS ISN'T HUBBLE,or, A TEN METER OBSERVATORY, w/unlimited/infinite Enhancement capabilities 'n'resources at your disposal. Opticsplanet, had the BEST PRICE, for this Make/Model. Pros: Ease/set-up/use–"PORTABILITY!" Looks niceCons: NOT 1

If you think this is a huge telescope and therefore not yours, You are wrong! I had no experience with any scope and have been able to assemble it all with the instructions provided in the package. And have used it with my 6-year old son. The German Equatorial mount greatly increases the quality of stargazing.

This is an excellent value in an astronomical telescope of the refracting type. The optics and German equatorial mount are very good and provide excellent stable viewing. Many accessories, such as eye piece kits are available for this telescope at reasonable prices. It is a traditional astronomical telescope, with German equatorial mount and is not for the viewer who relies on automatic pointing by computer to find objects in the sky, but rather for the amateur willing to learn about extraterrestrial objects and how to find those objects in the traditional manner using sky maps, setting circles and by sky hopping. Pros: Good optics and solid mount work together to provide excellent viewing. Easy to set up with clear instructions. Excellent value for the money. Cons: None for a knowledgeable buyer. Aperture is smaller than available with other telescope types. Not for the user who relies on electronics to find objects in the sky.
