After having another brand fail from an Amazon purchase, did some some research and decided to give this a chance over a Holosun or a Vortex. Has the same sight design I was going after before at a better quality, bigger sight picture, and a awesome warranty.

I purchased this sight for a hunting use handgun. I Only have a few rounds on it. Sighted in easily and without complication. 3 rounds to be precise, and at 40yrd sight in. Seems rugged and of quality build. I have found that this sight would be more fitting on shotgun or backup on rifle where the sight is closer to your eye. In my situation having put it on a pistol the reticle gets to large in my opinion. Compared to my holosun 507c at arms reach the (reticle) or dot and circle, is almost twice the size. Great RMR pistol red dot. I have several different brands of red dots and Gideon stands toe to toe with them. The build quality is excellent and the fit and finish is incredible. The red dot clarity is crisp and the glass has no distortion. I will be buying another one in the future.Highly recommend.

I was hesitant to try out this Gideon red dot because of all the naysayers dissing the fact that Gideon red dots are made in China, that they’ve copied the designs of other more proven red dot brands, and that they don’t have an established track record. My doubts were all disproven after mounting this and shooting with it on my cheapie Tisas PX9. The red dot was very easy to mount—its RMR footprint allowed me to mount it directly to my PX9 with no additional plate or adapter required, and it co-witnessed perfectly with the built-in iron sights on the weapon. Battery compartment is on top, so it was easy to install the new battery that came in the box. Zeroing was super easy, and the red dot held zero through hundred of rounds, plenty of racking, field stripping of the gun, and just general handling at the range. I chose the green dot because of my and my son’s astigmatism, and even on the close to lowest setting, the green dot was very easy to pick out in dim and bright light. Controls were easy to use and intuitive. The price is perfect to go with my also-cheap-and-very-undervalued PX9 with the 5” threaded barrel. Very good value in my opinion.

So far, this Gideon Alpha is very nice! Good glass,clear circle and dot,plus, the green light adj range is,(to my old eyes,)better than my holosun 407!It's plenty bright in direct sun and even better at night.Sight-in was ez on my 10/22,audible, tight clicks,5 up,3 left and sub 1" groups at 30yds,bracing on a fence post. This puts me in the zone for pest control around the garden and the delicious figs and blueberries I hope to harvest. Thanks Optics Planet for the sweet deal and great customer service. Pope

Got it on sale with 30 $ off so i took a chance. as i had a specific purpose for it.surprised that having astigmatism and the green recticle is crisp! well constructed , good controls. different hardware to fit your mounting needs.(screws and pic mount) Glass is clear! ease of access for battery replacement. the shake awake feature works ( 3:45) and is very sensitive , a slight tap if that , is all it takes.As previous reviewer correctly stated, the recticle does get larger at arms length, could be a con or pro..(would think for self defense application could be a pro , not so much for precision shooting? depends again on application)For my application as a back up top-mounted green dot on a TA-31d-100582 USMC RCO this is not an issue.the brightness level at high levels is very very bright! A+ in bright daylight .. its does have a very hard drop off at the lower levels though, seems to be as if you went from 4 straight to or 2 in brighness level, these could be the night vision settings but i have no way of testing that part of the optic, as i dont run NV gear.easily sighted in and accurate to 50yds and under and holding zero for 62 GR 5.56 (100rounds so far). another thing to note is the pictures do not match the glass coating.my unit has somewhat of a silver mirror like reflective tint rather than the pictured dark red anti reflective coating or tint. may be defeating the acog Anti reflective attachments. may need to find a cover for it. time will tell see how durable it is. so far it seems of very decent quality all around. would buy again on sale! Long list of Pros versus cons on this one for me.
