We use the scope at the ocean and it's been great for watching surfing shipping and bird life. I wear glasses and was concerned about the 25 60 times eyepiece but it's pretty clear until you get to the top end of the range.

Have had an 82sv for some time now and overall I like it. It's good for reading mirage and generally has very good properties. I am not quite certain if it's a real (or any) upgrade to the older TSN 821….Basically just a revision of it with the 60mm eyepiecesNice and bright. Overall I find the focus just a little too fast (Kowa design) but that's not an issue.Resolution is very good.Surprisingly, it does not exceed or even fully match the resolution of my older B&L Balscopes from the 1950s-1970s…The old balscopes (clean) can resolve greater detail at distance on 15x and 20x than my 82SV with a 27x eyepiece.Personally I suspect it's the eyepiece that's somewhat inferior on the Kowa…the Kowa 30x wide angle eyepiece may be superior.

great spotting scope for the money. Get the 25LER for 50' to 100 yard Smallbore or XTC, MRP and LR Hipower. Opt for the 20-60 zoom for reduced course hipower and CMP games. Holes are nearly impossible to see at 200 yards in conditions where light is not on the target face. Optics are clear and bright and resolution is very crisp. Resolves mirage well and cuts through it when you need it to.

I like the clarity of this scope. It's well made and easy to use. I especially love the Sighting Tube!! The construction, materials and feel of it is first class. The body is very expensive and so are the lens' and accessories.I bought a KOWA after reading all of the reviews by the PROS on line. They were right.

I have always been a bit of an optics snob, particularly on those devices to actually be mounted on a rifle. this means I tend to spend as much or more on glass as I do on the rifle I mounted on. I realize that a lot of folks understand that philosophy, but I also believe that a fair amount of shooters overlook the critical importance of an equally quality spotting scope. The Kowa 82mm angled scope, mated with the right eyepiece, is hands down the best spotter I have ever owned or used. The clarity is astonishing, the precision is superb and the functionalty is perfect for tracking extremely long range point of impact. A word of caution… don't skimp on the eyepiece, tripod or protective case. This scope is an optical system and is only as great as its weakest link.
