This Leupold VX-5HD 4-20×52 Side Focus Rifle Scope delivers a wide magnification range and high-performance optics to improve your efficiency on the hunting grounds. These Rifle Scopes made by Leupold feature scratch-resistant lenses and a Guard-ion lens coating that keeps the glass free from dirt and moisture for clear views at all times. The Leupold VX-5HD 4-20×52 Side Focus Rifle Scope brings you the brightest views possible thanks to the Twilight Max HD Light Management System, and this ultra-lightweight scope is durable, waterproof and fogproof for use in challenging environments and harsh weather conditions. Improve your aim by mounting a Leupold VX-5HD 4-20×52 Side Focus SFP Rifle Scope onto your weapon. Every CDS model scope comes with a standard MOA or MIL dial right out of the box, so it’s not a custom dial yet. To get yours, enter your ballistic information that can usually be found on your ammo box or the manufacturer’s website and some of the environmental conditions where you’ll be shooting the most, and we will laser-etch a new elevation dial to match. Once you receive the new dial in the mail, swap out the standard MOA or MIL dial, and you’re good to go. The Custom Dial System® (CDS) ensures your scope is now perfectly tuned to the ballistics of your rifle. Fully understanding your ballistics can be intimidating. That’s why the Leupold Custom Dial System® (CDS) laser-etches your scope’s elevation dial to match your load, velocity, and conditions. All you do is range your target, turn the dial to that number, and aim dead on. No more holdovers, bullet drop reticles, or ballistic calculators. Just quick, accurate shots every time. Excellent optic. Well constructed. Clear, defined viewing. Great eye relief. Legendary warranty. At the time I purchased I obtained it at a very good price. Unfortunately now the asking price is considerably higher so I cannot say I'd purchase it again…but the product itself is solid.

I recently just replaced my VX-2 6-18×40 CDS with the VX-5HD 4-20×52 w/firedot. The step up was pretty amazing, overall glass quality was a cut above, low light conditions are vastly improved, and with the ability to be at just x4 power makes this scope great for pretty much all hunting conditions. For fast target acquisition, and pin pointing your shots, the firedot is truly amazing as-well. The side parallax focus is far more convenient then how the VX-2's was around the objective. You get VX-6 Quality glass, with all the other basic scope needs to go on your favorite hunting/shooting Rifle. I cannot foresee anyone not being happy with this scope.Regarding CDS System:For those wondering or questioning its accuracy, this is my testament and defining moment. My experience started with my VX-2 back in 2015, shooting Federal Fusion 150 grain out of my 7mm Rem Mag. It's been spot on accurate every year, both shooting and hunting out to distances of 500 Yards. If you provide Leopold the correct data for your setup (best to chronograph), your new dial should be spot with the MOA Dial in terms of clicks. I had only shot at paper out to 500 yards, until a few years back I had spotted a nice Blacktail Buck on the timberline 440 Yards outs. I told myself I would never really trust the CDS until I use it in the field, and I figured this would be as good of time as any. So, I lined up my shot aiming to the best of my ability behind the front shoulder, gently squeezed the trigger, and let one fly. I see the deer react hit and then stand there for a brief second, before running about 10 yards, falling backwards, and then lights out. When we got to the deer, there was a perfect entrance hole right behind the front shoulder. That was definitely the defining moment when I trusted the CDS system. If the CDS is spot on ballistically at 500 yards(and again is spot on with the MOA Dial in terms of clicks needed to reach correct zero for shooting distance ), there is no reason the CDS system won't be just as accurate out beyond 1000 yards for those who are capable. Overall for my "Go To" Hunting Rifle, I far prefer the CDS over using MOA, there is no cheat sheets, no second guessing, and no excuses. I believe Randy Newberg said it best "even though Leopold calls it the Custom Dial System, I say it stands for Click Dial Shoot"

Extremely nice glass. A scope like this makes aiming at extended distances so much easier. I haven’t run it through it’s paces yet dialing the CDS but it did move 1 click per 1/4 moa in elevation when I sighted the rifle in. The windage adjustment seemed to be slightly “sticky” during this process but did get better with use.
