Although I have not used this scope yet, I already own two VX6 4-24×52 that I have. The addition of the power throw lever and Zero stop turret on the VX6HD are great improvements. Plus it comes with the Alumna-Flip lens covers. I can't wait to get my rifle from the Smith so I can dial in my load and order my BDC turrets.

It has so many features you have to read the manual to appreciate the all. Very clear optics. Have not had it long enough to comment on light transmission in an evening hunting situation but great on the range.

Optical clarity on high end Leupold scopes is as good as you'll find at any price point. For a hunting scope, the weight is a plus, as this scope weighs quite a bit less than some competitors. Added accessories like the Alumina covers and cattail make it easier to spend the extra money on a VX6HD vs a VX5HD.The only thing keeping this from being a five star review, and my gripe with Leupold VX scopes in general, is their zero-stop system. For this, they've made a compromise by including both CDS and zero-stop. If your primary use case is hunting, and CDS is a benefit with the type of hunting you do, then these turrets are great. As a direct comparison to other scopes in this price range, though, the ZL2 just doesn't have the same quality feel, and you give up a LOT of adjustment range. There is no point to mounting a ZL2 scope on a 20MOA base, you will gain nothing; the ZL2 mechanism prevents turret rotation beyond 38MOA, or about 1.9 turns of the turret. On a scope with 68MOA of internal adjustment, that means you've lost 1.5 turns of available elevation. Is this a big deal for 90% of shooters? No. Should it be spelled out more clearly on a high end optic marketed towards long rang hunting and target shooting? Absolutely yes.Good news is, Leupold will change the turrets if you want (for a price), and beyond that issue, it's a great scope. The TMOA reticle in particular is a home run, useful but not busy or over-complicated, just like a reticle should be.

I read the current reviews and had to write as none of them said anything about the 34mm tube that gathers the light in even when you can't see an animal with your eyes. I was hunting in Pa and it was time to pack it in as you could not see 50yds in the field and I saw a flash of white far off and pulled the gun up and could see a spike chasing a doe at 400yds! Now that's impressive! So the bottom line is if your looking for a great scope I can recommend this one.

Start to finish this is a scope of all scopes for me. Illuminated reticle that lets you know when the scope is level, light transmission beyond anything I have seen, ZERO stop turrets that give great feedback. Clarity is comparable with anything at this price point or even beyond. The alumina flip caps are the best bar none! Buy once, cry once, then smile forever!

What an awesome set-up! When ounces are pounds, you cannot beat the Leupold VX6. This light weight scope dials up all the features a Nightforce or any other high-end product can deliver for literally a pound less AND is significantly cheaper.Also…little secret…The scope already comes with flip up caps and a battery in the box, so you can sell the extra flip-up caps and shade extension they send you as part of this package and get $75 from your buddy that wishes he had them on his scope…
