The 750nm lasers of the LN-ELIR Series harness the characteristics of coherent infrared light to deliver tighter and brighter beams and drastically increase your night vision’s visibility and range while also extending the battery life to up 4 hours. Due to the laser efficiency, the Luna Optics IR lasers offer a sound competition to more powerful LED devices. Depending on the sensitivity (and generation) of your NVD, they can extend your visible range to 109-273 yards. To accommodate your applications and attachment requirements, these lasers can be ordered in one of two mounting options, a 1/4″-20 tripod socket or a Picatinny/Weaver mount. Additionally, for aligning the illumination beam with optics, LN-ELIR Series laser illuminators offer vertical and horizontal adjustment sockets, and for controlling beam divergence (0.1-5°), they provide a focusing ring on the objective bezel. Outfitting your night gear with the IR laser illuminators will increase the visibility range up to 109-273 yards, but the actual range value depends on the generation (and sensitivity) of your NVD and weather conditions. Filter could not be removed as planned. There is a set screw which was over tightened at factory therefore it fowled the lens thread and locked it up. With the filter, its just very weak. Well made and small, just weak.

Assuming it is legal for your purposes, removing the filter on the objective is essential to getting the most out of this product. The good:It is a torch at full power. At the tightest focus, beam is clearly discernible out to 400Ms.Adjustable beam width gives you lots of options. At widest dispersal you have a very clean beam of illumination past 200Ms.Adjustable power is a VERY nice option. For close range work, you can bring it down to acceptable levels but easily crank it to full power as required. Nice when using it as illum or when using it for aiming.Small but powerful. This doesn't take much room but provides a lot of IR.Easily mounted in any location. Thin profile gives you options. The bad:It is not, in the strictest sense, an aiming laser. It can be narrowed to a very tight beam that can be used for aiming but think a 15 MOA dot. It says .1 degree (which would be 6 MOA) but it seems twice that size in application. The on/off switch is atrocious. You can't tell if you have turned it on or off and it is difficult to use without gloves. Once it is on, it stays on. You have to use the adjustment dial if you want positive on/off. Tail cap is next on the purchase but that is an additional 100 dollars. It does give off visible red light at highest power. Not a huge issue for most folks and it isn't much, but it is there. The unknown:I have not shot it yet, so I don't know how well it takes zero or holds it under recoil. Appears well made but until you have shot it a while, you really don't know.Overall:Good product, good price point, would recommend for getting started.

This is definitely an IR illuminator, I have no prior experience with other IR illuminators. I was able to remove the filter. The problems that I see with this device is that it feels cheaply made, the adjustment device to focus the beam or widen the beam feels loose and loses point of aim easily.Additionally the materials feel cheap, the plastic, the screws that the mount is attached with strip easily. The print on the dial for increasing and decreasing the light intensity is backwards. With regard to the beam, the tightest that I could get the focus of the laser is about the size of a baseball.I would expect better quality for the price, would recommend saving your money.

No 1st hand knowledge of this [hence the neutral 3* rating], but 750 nanometers is within normal human visual range, so I'm not sure how this is IR?Granted, this is a *laser* illuminator, so the fact that you aren't going to get any off axis spill may have something to do with other users not realizing it's not really IR and posting about it in their reviews, but colour me confuzzled as to how this unit gets advertised as "IR."Tchuss!

I am not sure how anyone could possibly give this less than 5 stars. For those paranoid about removing the filter, remember that the laws of physics and the FDA apply to every manufacturer equally. It isn't Luna's fault that you get mediocre (but still acceptable) performance if you run with the filter. That said, if your filter accidentally falls out and gets lost (a win) the performance improves to amazing levels. No spillover, perfect round spot of illumination I can throw out for over 1000 feet. For those paranoid about "shooting their eyes out", the power is spread over the disc. Just don't be stupid and focus it into a dot and into your eye. Keep it spread and it is no more dangerous than an IR flashlight of the same intensity and diameter. Not sure why some reviewers think that just because it's a laser somehow the light is more deadly even when the same visible brightness. I have it mounted on my helmet and PVS-14, and I have a nice spot off in the distance everywhere I look. Very cool, and now nothing can hide.

Best IR laser/illuminator for the price! Would buy again! Added with night vision, it’s a very powerful unit! The unit can accommodate a pressure pad for a little extra cash but works fine with the tail cap provided. Also great adjustment on power output
