I took a chance on this particular optic after doing a little bit of research and poking around. I have a couple of spare optics laying around and ultimately got this as sort of a tester to see how it looked, build quality and whether it would fit a use case I have for it.I think most times, you get what you pay for in terms of optics; quality of glass, workmanship, design, etc… There are exceptions to this, and I do think this is one of them. A couple of things right off; I've not sighted this yet and I don't know how it will hold a zero, but I plan on giving that a shot (… literally) here in the near future. From a workmanship and quality perspective, I'd probably give it a 95%. There are two things that are… I mean they aren't questionable, but just didn't feel as good from a fit and finish perspective. The first is the battery compartment; It takes a CR2032 battery and it goes right above the brightness / color knob. The top plate of the battery compartment just didn't come off to me as being super robust. It definitely has and O-ring for some water resistance, but it just felt kind of … tinny I guess. Maybe scratchy is the word. It also does not come with a battery, so I had to digging to find my stash of CR2032 batteries. It would have been nice to have it come with a battery so that it's all right there during assembly and mounting. The second thing is the different reticles – I do like having a choice of reticles, but on any other optic that has multiple reticles, I end up picking one and sticking with one, such that I prefer an optic to have one really well done and crystal clear reticle, rather than have 3 or 4 different reticles that are ~90% of the way there. I wouldn't knock off a star for this because all 4 reticles seem clear and the brightness levels definitely are variable enough; the lowest is plenty low so you're not blind at night and the high is high enough to still see brightly in the middle of a sunny day.One other minor thing is that this is not quick release – it's not advertised to be, but the rail mount is a Hex / Allen key. This comes with a little hex wrench. The screws also had no indication of having any type of thread lock on them. Typically, any time I see an optic that is NOT quick release, I'd like to see some thread lock on the screws. That said, I just put some on when I mounted it.The last very minor thing is the indicator on the side of the knob is just a small score mark in the metal. It would be nice if this were a milled shape of sorts; even a bigger indicator dot or small arrow. So far, for the price, I don't think you can find any type of reflex sight like this for this amount of money and have it be as good as this. I think the only things I had issues were with is stated above and I personally don't think it's enough to call it less than 5 stars. They all do what you think it will do, it's just all business.
