Very clear reticle and the relatively large objective lens makes it quite bright. The green illumination is very easy to see in low-light, even the #1 setting is easy to pick up.The red illumination is not as good, I have to crank it up to 3 at minimum for it to be useful, even in the dark.Arrived with batteries already inside. I'm not an expert, but this doesn't seem good for battery life. The BDC works well with PPU 5.56 M193 ammo, accurate to within ~1 MOA out of a 16 inch barrel at 200 yards. It is heavy relative to other low magnification optics due to the prism lens, but as I said, the reticle is remarkably clear. The mount this optic comes with is pretty awful, and comes loose very easily. I replaced it with a GDI QD mount for $60 and now it works perfectly. It has screw holes identical to the acog so it should be compatible with other acog style mounts.

Ok this scope is unreal, take it to the range!!! I thought it was to small to see anything, but once I took it to the range I saw ecerything really clear and I have really bad eyes. I boresighted the scope setting the reticle approx. 1/2" above the boresight red dot in a 10 yard distance, went to the range and using the BDC I was able to achieve consecutive shots at 100, 200 315, 525 yards, I found my new 3 gun scope…

This magnifier was very easy to attach to the rifle rail. The adjustments for elevation and windage were dependably crisp and accurate for the 100 yards I needed this prism for. It was easy and dead on accurate to adjust. I would highly recommended this as a great way to help get rid of the slight blur at distance when you've aged and can't see like as well. The reticle is clear and not as busy as some others that clutter what you are trying to see. I can't wait to try it at longer distances later.

For those of you who want a Trijicon ACOG but can't afford the $1200+ price tag the Primary Arms 5X Prism Scope is a fantastic substitute at only $280. Mounted the P.A scope on my M4 (16" barrel) because I was not happy with the accuracy of an unmagnified red dot at 50-100 yard ranges. My only concern was the possibility of having to also install a red dot on top of the scope for CQ targets. Additionally, installing pop-up iron sights as a backup to the P.A. scope or red dot in the event their batteries died was going to be a big problem because co-witnessing iron sights through a magnified scope results in a blurry front sight. The Primary Arms 5X Prism Scope solved all of these problems!!!First, my accuracy was greatly increased at 50-100 yard ranges because the P.A. reticle dot is smaller than a typical red dot. Because the reticle dot does not completely cover the target, you can precisely place the shot on target. For CQ targets I found that the P.A. reticle horseshoe ring around the dot was excellent for this purpose because the scope's field of view is so large. Thus, I did not need to install a red dot on top of the P.A scope. Lastly, the P.A. reticle image is etched onto the scope and is highly visible during daylight hours, hence, a battery failure will not result in a nonfunctional scope. This meant that I did not need to install backup iron sights. In fact, I found myself leaving the red/green reticle illumination turned off during daylight hours. The reticle image is that sharp and clear.Have been unable to test the P.A. scope accuracy at 200-400 yard targets because the autumn winds are gusty and variable here in southern AZ. If the numerous web videos showing the P.A. scope in action at these ranges are true I can't wait for the next calm day to see if I will actually be able to reach out and touch something that far out.

Very nice scope. A lot like a ACOG without the price. I do wish it would have a clear setting on it so you could use backup sites if you want to without take the site off. Wish it had quick attachments so you could take it off quickly but this can be changed out on you own. Overall a great site for the price and small. Takes up little room on your rail and lite for what it does. Gives you many settings on green and red, so you have both options for what you would like.

To put this review in perspective I am weekend shooter that was looking for a scope that could get my AR (self built) out to 800 yard on metal with practice that did not want to spend the ACOG money or even close.I have taken this scope to the range once and it is awesome. There are a few things that i would say are lacking. The lens covers for one. Why go to all the trouble of designing such a nice looking package with this very intuitive reticle to use some "Dime Store" lens covers? Charge the extra $10 of cost and include the butler creek covers or brand your own- PA. Optic Planet could go one step further and make a package deal that beats the PA website to include those covers. The only other think I don't like about this scope is the "rubber bands" that they use to retain the adjustment covers. It gets all twisted and comes off when you remove and replace the covers after zeroing. Should not be a big deal if you don't move from rifle to rifle…Overall I like it a lot and if I was going to get another scope for another rifle i would consider PA, great bang for the buck.
