I may be slightly jaded because I like S/I products a lot and have quite a few, but I do love the fit and finish of the REX Exoskeleton. I used it to mount a Burris Fastfire 3. It was a little tricky to handle all the tiny pins and screws, but in the end it was rock solid and looks great. Even comes with some blue loctite. But one word of warning… the mounting screw that mounts the REX to the picatinny rail is small in diameter. It has a knob to tighten it with, and in the center of the knob is a allen wrench socket. DO NOT tighten with an allen wrench. I overtightened it thinking it was larger diameter and it easily broke off. However, it is competely tightened down on the R.EX Riser and will now never come off unless it loosens up on its own, but I highly doubt it will. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is there was no warning on the instructions to not oertighten that screw.

I didn't want to believe that this was such a weak product. I figured Strike Industries would have remedied the issues by now. They even send a little card that says to torque down to 15 inch-pounds. That was a good sign. That's what I thought until I set my torque screwdriver to 15 inch-pounds, placed the screws through my Vortex Venom into the mount, tightened, and then felt the threads strip. Although ruined at this point, I tried again with 13 inch-pounds, which stripped the other side. Is my driver not calibrated? Maybe. I don't want to say it is definitely the product's fault. Has it ever stripped threads in another product when going by the manufacturer's guidelines? No. I would caution buyers to confirm calibration on their driver and perhaps question Strike Industries regarding whether 15 is the appropriate torque. Alternatively, Strike could just make a stronger mounting bracket and charge slightly more. This is a good idea for a product with few, if any, alternatives. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy it if I were given a torque figure that worked, but I am now in the camp of those individuals who had to write a bad review about its tendency to be weaker than expected.

I bought this to add some protection to my red dot on my duty shotgun. But, as I was tightening the cross screw, it broke at 12 inch pounds. I emailed SI, and never received a reply. As of now, the replacement screw is out of stock, so I just have a useless piece of aluminum.Being as most cross bolts are around 30 inch pounds, I can not understand why they went with such a small screw that couldn’t be tightened to 15 inch pounds. If they change the design to a larger, more robust screw, they’ll have a pretty awesome design.

Installed without a hitch. I have no idea how all of you struggled so much. 10 pounds exact on the tension screw. Didnt break it. They make loctite for a reason. Its not going anywhere. The pins do a lot to keep it in place also and it sits snug in the shroud as it is without the screws… They're basically to make sure it doesnt slide out. Looks amazing and functions nicely. Been looking for a nice flush mount for my RMR. Would highly recommend to anyone. Already recommended it to my brother in law. Hes gonna grab one himself.

This may be common knowledge that I'm just now learning, but I've found that Strike Industries products look tacti-cool but are completely worthless in real-life use. This SI REX is the perfect example. The first time I mounted the REX, the cross bolt that mounts to the rail sheared off at the threads. It is the thinnest, most flimsy mounting bolt I've ever seen on a rail mount. After receiving a replacement from OP, I was sure to not overtighten the bolt as recommended. Just as finger-tight as I could make it. Within the course of a single 35-round magazine, the mount had worked itself loose. Tighten back down finger-tight and the zero had changed. I repeated 2 additional times before becoming fed up with this piece of junk. Bottom line: looks cool when on display, may protect red dot when your gun is in the safe. But when you actually fire the gun, don't expect the mount to stay put.

This is an awesome ideas, but not all pistol optics are the same body size. They need to raise the guard rails a touch higher. My Holosun sticks over the top of the frame. So if it falls on the optic, it still takes damage. Trust me, I’ve had it happen before.
