The Trijicon 1-8×28 VCOG (Variable Combat Optical Gunsight) is a highly rugged, variable magnification Rifle Scope designed for close quarter battle (CQB) and long distance marksmanship. With a forged aircraft-grade 7075-T6 aluminum housing, the VCOG is nearly indestructible. Superior glass provides exceptional clarity and color with zero distortion. The universal segmented circle crosshair dot reticle is designed for multi-platform use, accommodating multiple calibers, ammunition weights, and barrel lengths. The first focal plane reticle allows subtensions and drops to remain true at any magnification, allowing the shooter to quickly and accurately apply the correct hold. With ruggedized electronics, the LED reticle is robust enough for any application. Powered by a lithium AA battery (provided), the 1-8×28 VCOG offers a battery life of 633 hours at setting 6. Choose from 11 user-selectable brightness settings, 2 night vision settings, 8 day settings, and 1 super-bright setting. An integrated dial fin allows easy rotation through the magnification range, and a near-constant eye relief means no head or stock position adjustments are needed. Waterproof to 20 meters (66 ft.). Bombproof, rock solid VCOG now with 8x magnification.I love how turn key this optic is, everything you need perfectly assembled. Just take it out of the box and mount it on your rifle. While the reticle isn't my favorite, it definitely gets the job done. On 1x you have a quick acquisition visual and on 8x you have a refined aiming point. The only thing I don't love is the illumination. I would have preferred center illumination only. Also the illumination seems to be a bit inconsistent (brighter bottom right and dimmer top left).

I put this scope on a Q Fix rifle. Its a great focal range for the woods up here in the Northeast. Looks like the biggest gripe about the vcog is the weigh, compare it to a vortex 1-6 with a scope mount It's comparable. The forged housing is unbelievably rugged. The glass is top notch. I'm not sure why this scope isn't more popular. I absolutely recommend it.

This thing is build like a tank. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is the weight of the optic. I can see why the USMC chose this particular scope. If you run out of ammo in a fight, you can take the scope off the rifle and use it as a club! As a comparison, think of an ACOG, then apply that quality of build and toughness to a 1-8x scope. That is this VCOG. Not the lightest optic, but definitely built to take a beating and keep a zero. Great clarity and the magnification dial is super smooth. I also like that it takes AA batteries.

The VCOG 1-8×28 is built like a tank. Expected no less from trijicon. The glass is superb as is the eye relief. FFP reticle illuminates daylight bright. Truest 1x power i have seen yet. Can’t say enough good things about it. Get one of you want to run the best.

Bolted on with the supplied mount and set up at 50 and 100 yards. Took 2 shots at 50 off slight high right then same at 100. A few clicks later was shooting 100 and reset at 200.. very happy with this glass with or without the light.

The VCOG having been my first Trijicon optic, has set the bar (very) high in regards to build quality and performance. This thing is an absolute tank. Solid build, precision out of the box. The biggest cons would be weight and relying on batteries but most of us will never notice these affects while firing from a bench setup.
