It seems to be a solid mount even though there was slight movement to front ring before secured to main rail. I added black RTV under it on barrel. Only has two cross slots so not a lot of mounting options, and adds more height to the optic than expected. Don't see it as a problem other than it will not fit into the holster, but I knew that.Bore sighted before and after for 50 yard zero. Can't wait to get out and shoot this .357 with reflex sight.Pros: Solid no drill solutionCons: adds height to your sight line

First, the one piece mount is a two piece. The base is gloss black but the yoke that goes around barrel is matte black. The ID of the yoke is .801 and the OD of the barrel is .775. That's no good in my book. Called Weaver and the tech's answer was I DON'T KNOW, send it back and we will send the right color. I decided not to go through that I'll live with the color and shim the .026 gap. A shim .013×1/2×1-3/4 will wrap the entire inside of yoke and slide over barrel. I found a place to send for Teflon sheet stock .015x12x12 for $9.00 plus shipping, probably another $9.00. A lite sanding will take it down to .013. I think that will fix the problem. That being said. I don't think it would cost Weaver much, to supply a plastic shim like Burris uses in there signature Z rings. Probably 10-25 cents. The yoke was most likely made to fit 44,s+45,s. How many years has Weaver sold this problem to 357 owner's? In summary, this is no fault of the retailer's, It's Weaver's If you don't want to D+T the gun,buy one and fix it ,it's the only one out there. But be FORWARNED

This mount base work good for my application. I was highly concerned on the location of the ring slots for the scope I wanted to use. But all worked out ok.Pros: Easy to setupCons: Mount only has 2 slots for to mount rings. Can be a problem with some scopes,

I bought this for my Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt to mount a Leapers red dot sight for deer hunting.I was very pleased with how easy it was to install.I simply completely unscrewed the elevation screw for the rear sight, then carefully pushed out the horizontal pin (you will need a 1/32" punch to do it) at the hinge point, taking extra care not to lose the spring that forces the sight up.I then followed the very cleary written (not translated from a foreign language, I am happy to report) instructions to attach the barrel yoke and the base itself. One thing I would highly recommend for those mounting this would be to use the removable blue Loc-Tite on both screws for this base itself and on the clamp screws for the rings to prevent backout under heavy recoil. The only quibble, minor at that, is that this base has only two slots, somewhat limiting your ring mounting options. This was not a problem for me, though, since only the forward clamp on my red dot sight engaged the forward slot, leaving the rear clamp open.Anyone needing more slots could easily grind one if needed, but the slot spacing is probably just fine for 99% of the shooters out there.I did more than just mount this and the dot sight, sending over thirty rounds of very stout 800-850 foot pound (260 grain Barnes XPB at 1200fps) handloads I assembled specifically for this revolver downrange in the process of sighting in, then evaluating my accuracy potential of my new sight.I am happy to report that both sight and mount held up perfectly to the very heavy recoil of these stiff hunting loads, with not a sign of mount movement.I was easily able to consistently keep my groups within one inch at 25 yards with this setup. There are also two recoil lugs to ensure that it stays put on the revolver. This mount is outstanding, and probably the finest and most rugged that can mounted on the Ruger Blackhawk revolvers with ordinary hand tools.Pros: Strength, ease of installation, availability of rings that fitCons: Only two transverse slots
