I have used the Ares G2 20-60x85mm a few times. I like how smooth the focus dials are. The images are clear and sharp. My only complaint is that it is a bit on the heavy side for packing into the back country.

Needed a spotting scope I could rough up , beat up hack around the truck without breaking the bank this is it. Not light weight because it’s built strong. Crisp as my eyes can see. I respect worn out tools it means they work. That’s what this will be , no guilt of trashing a $3k-$4k scope. I’ll beat up a reasonable price one-This will do the job.

This scope is great, I got to use it on a mule deer hunt in the high country, it’s clear as the vortex razor, I was a bit hesitant on the price, as it’s 500-600$ Less than the razor, but I’m glad I did. This scope was great out to about 1300 yards, as expected. The only downsides to this scope is 1. The scope is a bit heavy in your pack, as well as long, but it’s worth carrying the extra weight, 2. (Nothing about the scope) if you are wanting to use this scope for hunting season, you better order it NOW! It took about 2 months for this scope to be there. (This was with the exception of COVID, but still takes a bit)
No an idiot –
Its a great spotter and is way better optics then the price suggests. It is not a spotter you put in your pack to go into the back country. You should not expect any 80mm spotting scope to be light or made for packing on a hunting trip, they make smaller spotters for that.
