I bought this pair of bins to reach a happy medium in weight and size after years of using 10×42 and 8×42 optics. The view is incredibly clear, bright, and contrasty. Wearing glasses the stated 15mm eye relief may have been pushing it a bit since it take a lot of pressure on my face to see the entire view. I, almost immediately, hooked them up with a Rick Young "harness" and I will be doing a lot more actual wearing.

I volunteer at several desert California State Parks and hike their many miles of trails and also visit Death Valley National Park. Having decent binoculars is an essential accessory for many reasons when exploring those locations. The Kowa 8X33 Genesis binoculars I purchased from Optics Planet are well beyond decent, they are: lightweight, compact, ergonomically perfect, extremely well made (in Japan), focusing is accurate and easy, and most importantly, clarity is as clear as the very best.
