I bought these rings to mount a straight tube 1.5 x 5 scope on a .416 Winchester safari gun. The idea was to mount the scope low as possible so I could keep my cheek firmly on the stock of this big recoiling caliber. The results were just as I had hoped for and I was able to roll straight back with the rifles recoil and not get slapped under the chin which hurts and causes one to flinch at the shot. Super low rings seem to work better with 2 piece base. Often times on a 1 piece base will not allow the bottom of the scope to clear the top of the base making correct mounting impossible.

I used Leupold's website to calculate the exact Rings and Base I needed for my rifle / Leupold Scope combination. I got the UPC code, and OpticsPlanet search function found the exact match instantly. It was in stock, and it was at a great discount.

Bought these rings along with a Leupold 10/22 mount because of previous experience with the same setup but on a different 10/22. The rings are easy to install with the Leupold wrench and are rock solid. The included installation screws came with blue thread locker. I purchased the medium height, which worked perfect with a 40mm objective scope (about 4mm of space between the bottom of the scope and barrel). They've stayed rock solid on both 22s after a few drops while cleaning and misplacement on a gun rack. Fairly confident in their ability to last and solidly hold the scope for a long time.
Leupold mount system is pretty slick –
Leupold built a system of standard low, medium, and high rings that lock into bases that are rifle make model specific. So the standard rings can work on any Leupold base…. pretty slick. Competitively priced compared to the major competitors who use a universal picatinny rail that maybe fits with rings in that fit the rail. The Leupold system forces your u to buy the correct base that fits the receiver exactly. It is shock proof and recoil proof. After using Vortex and Nikon, this Leupold system is better! After you price the base and rings, Leupold is both cheaper and better. The STD ring system locks solidly into the base. And the base system hugs the receiver like a gamete in “Alien”. Leupold includes lock nuts with nylon thread shell. Rock solid!

gloss polishing could be a bit more luster but is still OK at least it is not matte finish. has L stamped on top of ring but still looks good, comes with torx screws and wrench and Leupold rings and bases are solid.

Simple, works well adjustable windage. Front site is tough as heck to get in straight..you have to twist it into it's slot and this is very tight. DON'T use your scope for this if you have no idea what you're doing.Pros: Simple, worksCons: Very tight front sight.. hard to get perfectly lined up.
