These Talley Rings and bases are excellent. They fit my Model 70 perfectly with the "con" noted. I've got a few Talley Rings and bases on other firearms. These do not disappoint.Pros: Strong solid ring/base; easy to mount easy to set scopeCons: none really but the rear bore hole on my rear ring/ base was not deep enough to allow mounting screw to engage threads on rifle receiver; had a slightly longer screw on hand so OK; needs about a 1/16" more

Solid, stable and worth every penny. No lapping required. Made in the U.S.A. Talley customer service is top notch. I actually needed high rings to mount a 3-9×40 scope on my .243 Marlin X7. They sent out the correct rings the same day I contacted them.

This product was on back order, but after my call because I saw it available online I got my order after about 3 weeks. I was able to install and my son only 12 loves the perfect ring height. I wish there were directions but after looking at the base was able to determine what mount went where. Very good but I wish the tolerances on the ring was a little better would like to see less gap where the screws tighten the scope into place.

I like Talley rings. I have several pairs on .22 calber to .308 caliber rifles. They are lightweight, well built and easy to install with the appropriate tools. They function perfectly and look great. I have never encontered any negative issues with Talley rings. Thanks

I have a Marlin X7 (not sure what, if any difference from the XL7) in .30-06. It came with a funky one piece rail, that really got in the way when loading the blind magazine. It also had a habit of working the rear screw loose. Frustrated after years of putting up with those downfalls, I decided to upgrade to Talley mounts. Note the other Marlin rifle review said there is a gap at the back. It’s sure, but I think that is more an artifact of the Marlin-Remington quality control. I’ve got it bore sighted, and hoping to get it zeroed this weekend.
